Welcome to my studio!
Classical Guitar is my passion. I have taught it for over 25 years.
I was the guitar instructor at Algoma Conservatory of Music from 1991 until 2002. During that time, I performed as a member of the Algoma Chamber Players, and as a solo guitarist. I then taught French and Music at the Toronto District School Board.
I take a fluid approach. Were you my student, I would provide you with a strong foundation in classical guitar. Next, we could intensify our mastery of the classical repertoire, or we could branch out into folk and/or jazz guitar. I also teach Suzuki Guitar.
I hold a Baccalauréat en interprétation—guitare from l’Université de Montréal, and a Diplôme des études supérieures—guitare from the Conservatoire de musique du Québec à Gatineau, where I was awarded a premier prix à l’unanimité at the final Concours exam.
My studies, which began at the Eli Kassner Guitar Academy under Alan Torok, who remains a good friend, have taken me on many paths. I have explored the intricacies of flamenco, the mysteries of rich tone production, the sand traps of tremolo and the mazes of fingering.
For three summers, I was a scholarship student at the Aspen Music Festival and School, under Sharon Isbin.
I completed the first two levels of Suzuki Guitar Teacher Training at Canterbury School in New Milford, Connecticut; and at University of Hartford.
I hope that you and I have a chance to work together at the Toronto School for Strings!
